More Tools To Plug Security HolesBy Deborah Gage | Posted Thursday, March 01, 2007 02:02 AM
One thing that landed on the cutting room floor in our story on "5 Big Security Holes" is a reference to free tools to detect flaws in deployments of Voice Over Internet Protocol, the technology that sends phone calls over the Internet. They can be downloaded here. The authors--David Endler, who directs security research at TippingPoint, and Mark Collier, the chief technology officer of SecureLogix--believe IT departments should be forearmed both against hackers and against any vendors and integrators who don't know how to secure VOiP systems. They've been speaking at security conferences like BlackHat and say the rooms have been full.
